Latest News From A.D Calvert

A D Calvert is honoured to have been asked to undertake the manufacture and supply of Witton Fell Sandstone to restore the stone paving surrounding the grave of World War 1 nurse Edith Cavell at Norwich Cathedral.

Edith Cavell worked as a nurse in Brussels during the First World War, and is celebrated for treating wounded soldiers from both sides, as well as helping over 200 allied soldiers escape German-occupied Belgium, for which she was tried and executed.

Edith Cavell is a national heroine, so it’s a real privilege to be involved with this project. Work is currently in progress after a grant was awarded in 2014, as part of the World Was 1 centenary programme. You can read more about it here
